Mop Construction

CUT-END mops really introduced wet mops to the cleaning maintenance field. It is initially economical and with the variety and grades of yarn available today from cotton, to rayon, to synthetics, these cut-end mops have a very reasonable performance life.

Although not a launderable mop, you can net them and achieve a degree of success in a non-agitating washer. However you do not consistently attain a knot free mop with this action.

LOOPED-END mops are higher in initial cost than the conventional cut-end. However, this initial expense is more than offset by savings in performance and product longevity.

Looped-end mops provide higher retention of liquids and faster "break in". Looped-ends continuous loops eliminate unraveling, thus greatly prolonging useful mop life.

Looped-end mops utilize tailbands to hold individual yarns in place. The tailband helps produce a much wider spread, substantially increasing the area a mop can cover in one mopping stroke. Tailbands also make it possible to launder wet mops by preventing yarns from tangling. If laundered regularly, top quality looped-end tailbanded mop will last 8 to 10 times longer than a cut-end mop.

FANTAIL mops are conventional cut-end mops with a tape sewn near the bottom of the strands. This limits to just an inch or two the tendency of the strands to lose their twist and lint off. Fantailed do not become tangled, snagged or knotted. Fantails provide better control of the tool and significantly greater durability.
